Kid-friendly Halloween "mummy" brownie kit review

I bought a few cute Halloween-themed dessert kits at Target (two more reviews forthcoming when we find some time to do them) and this brownie mummy kit is the first one my five year old wanted to try. (Not sponsored, by the way!) We typically attempt baking crafts like this when the two year old is napping, since she is still in that adorable chaos stage of her life. Having one-on-one time with my son is also really special for both of us, since it just doesn't happen that often these days (family! school! work! oh my!).

The first step of the process in putting these together is making a pretty standard brownie from the provided mix (you will need to provide your own oil, water, and two eggs). The batter looked like it was spread too thin (to me) at the time of baking since you bake them in a 9x13 pan, but they turned out perfectly. Then you make the icing (you will need softened butter, powdered sugar, and milk), and use the enclosed piping bag to ice your brownies in stripes like mummies. My son got to do the honors of attaching the candy eyeballs to each brownie.

This was a fun, easy activity to get us into the early Halloween spirit, and the output was both cute and delicious. I would definitely recommend giving this a try, either with your little ones helping or on your own. This would also be a perfect dessert to serve at a Halloween party - very on theme. Let me know if you tried these and how they turned out!
